Lieutenant Yamamoto made his way down the hall during the quiet after midnight hours, a less than enthusiastic expression wearing away at his features. If any of his Engineering Team would be less likely to put up a fuss so late at night (or would still potentially be awake), it would be Sakuro.
"Heeeey," Hideo groaned as he knocked on the door to Sakuro's quarters, "Oi, Wakey Wakey, Eggs and BREAK-Y. You up in there?"
He then pressed the buzzer on Sakuro's access panel, sounding a doorbell-esque chime in his room.

Sakuro was sitting at a desk in his room looking very closely at a coil. He was trying to figure out if it was still good to use when he heard a voice outside his room and then the chime of the doorbell. He set the coil down and got to his feet. His cover all were half off. His torso exposed but the sleeves tied around his waist. He brushed his hair out of his face as he answered to door.
"Did something break?" He asked without giving a greeting. He was usually only called appn this late if something broke.

"Something's always broke-
Hideo groaned and made a dramatic 'tsk' sound in mock disapproval.
-Put on a shirt Private, don't you know 'never on a first date'? Have some class." Hideo waved Sakuro back into his room, turning his attention back to his own digital clipboard.
"I know you're off duty, but you up for a space dive? We got a damaged panel on the wing that needs replacing."

Sakuro's head tilted and he grinned at the other at his comment. He reachout and grabbed Hideo's nipple, giving it a light twist. "Please, its not the first time you've come to my room so late at night. What will people say." He joked moving back inside his room, grabbing a shirt off the floor and giving it a smell. It didn't smell fresh but it wasn't completely bad either. He pulled it on having left the door open knowing he'd only be a second and turned back to the door. "Alright. Let's go for a walk."

Hideo barked at the twist, "Fawk! Not my favorite one-- They're gonna say I'm too good for you, THAT'S what they're gonna say."
The Lieutenant begrudgingly waved at the Private to follow suit through the hall, bringing up the repair details with a sigh.
"Some debris dented one of the panels and the sensors are showing it's jammed in place. Not an emergency, but the longer it's left the more of a pain in the ass it will be to fix. We'll have to dislodge and replace it..."
Hideo was leading them to the kitchen. Seems the problem could wait until he had another coffee.

Sakuro followed him. Hideo was his boss but he liked that he didnt act like a boss. It kept the atmosphere light and stress free for the most part. Hand shoved in his pockets he noticed they were heading towards the kitchens. "You drink to much coffee." He said knowing where this was going. Which was funny for him to say with his 5+ cups a day he drank himself. "But make me one too." He added following him into the kitchen

The superior didn't miss a beat with his retort.
"And you don't sleep enough, but you don't hear me bitching about that-
Hideo did. He commented on it regularly.
-in this particular moment." He added evenly.
There was no additional complaints from the long-haired man as he made a coffee for both of them. The Lieutenant hopped up on the counter after handing Sakuro a freshly made drink.
"So, what were you working on tonight anyway?" The Lieutenant pried, taking a long sip from his mug.

He accepted the coffee. Thus might be the reason he didnt sleep much but he was fine with it.
"Gadgets little toy that he always seems to have with him, it's leg is making an odd noise. I think it might be the coil wearing out so I was trying to see if i had a spare part to fix it for him." He leaned againest the wall and took a sip of his coffee.
"Why are you up? If it's such a minor problem couldn't they have let it wait till morning hours?"

Hideo's eyes narrowed as an unpleasant memory of tripping over the robot entered his thoughts, "Ah yes, that thing. Well that's... thoughtful of you."
The compliment sounded forced but was genuine all the same.
"Well, I was up pulling overtime anyway, and was about to call it a night, when I got the page. Figured on the off chance it breaks off, and the panels underneath ice up and- blah blah blah, more bullshit I don't want to start tomorrow with."
Even if the Lieutenant perpetuates chaotic and unprofessional energy, he was in actuality one of the biggest 'workaholics' on the ship. If it could put his team at risk, he couldn't leave it be.
"So, if you could grab us some plasma saws and welders and meet at the port side bay doors in say--
Hideo hummed in thought.
--30 minutes? I'll go, uh, find us a Moonwalker."
'Moonwalker' was the Lieutenant's unofficial term for an Aeronaught, a safety requirement for all external mid-space repairs.

He took one last long drink of his coffee and then set the cup down on the counter Hideo was sitting on. "Yeah I got it." He said and left the room leaving his dirty, not finished cup of coffee on the counter.
He made his way to retrieve the tools that were requested. This wasn't his first time going outside the ship and though he didnt show it he was excited. There was something very thrilling about it. Something dangerous, something not very many people ever got to do.

Hideo placed the mug in the sink along with his own dirty one, making a mental note to deal with it later.
---
By the time Sakuro had signed out the tools and made his way to the port side bay, his Lieutenant was already there with the chosen Aeronaught; Private Uchida. Both of them were suiting up near the airlock doors.
Hideo looked up with a casual grin, the caffeine clearly having lifted his demeanor, "Heyyyy, look who I found lurking, I mean 'working', on the night shift."
The private unsubltley rolled his eyes, clearly not amused at the terrible joke.
Although Sakuro had done outside repairs a few times in the past, this would be the first time Private Uchida would be on his out of ship deploy.

Sakuro grinned at the very bad joke as he set down the tools and started to suit up. He could feel the excitement building inside himself. The grin never really left his face at this point.
"He wake you up or were you working late?" Sakuro asked Uchida well he suited up. Either way I'm glad your here. Can you imagine me having to go out there with just him?" He joked nodding toward Hideo.

Unlike the two engineer's spacesuits which favored utility, storage and extra protection during repairs; The Aeronaught's suit was designed with mobility in mind to double as a flightsuit for the pilots assigned to them.
"I'm on night rotation tonight, so I was up," Kaito answered evenly, looking up from fastening his torso piece with a nod. A smile tugged at his features at the other's joke.
"Hey! Watch it Sakuro or you're one smart comment away from being featured on 'Lost in space'," the Lieutenant snapped back on cue.
Kaito shook his head softly in disbelief, "That show is terrible."
Hideo's head snapped to attention in offense, "How dare you."
The Lieutenant would look back at Sakuro as if expecting backup on the matter.

"Pfff. You wouldn't let me float away. You like me to much." Sakuro said fastening his last clasp and dodging having to respond to that comment. It would just turn into an endless argument how your wrong and he's right. "I can see the tortured expression in your eyes as I'm hurled into the great emptiness of space..." he said jokingly and then pause and gave a little shudder. "On second thought I dont wanna joke about that. Thats scary shit." He looked to Kaito. "Please don't let me fall into the emptiness of space."

"You're right, I wouldn't," Hideo agreed, "Who else would I nag at two in morning?"
He chuckled to himself as he finished suiting up, helmet in his hands.
"You're in good hands," Kaito clarified with a nod and a self-confident smirk that bordered cocky, "I'm very good at my job. Even if I weren't, the tether's and your magnetic boots would prevent that from happening."
Despite Lieutenant Yamamoto outranking Private Uchida, it was still the Command Officer's job to go through the safety check of everyone's suits and have them all answer safety questions. Whether it was your first time, or your 20th, the review was essential.
Kaito walked over to the Lieutenant, checking his oxygen tank and securing his helmet place. The task was a simple one with Hideo being just shorter than the Aeronaught.
Walking over to Sakuro, Private Uchida had to reach slightly to do the same checks.
"Hn, you're taller than you look. Do you slouch?" Kaito asked nonchalantly.
