"Probably." He answered not really having thought about it before. Bending his knees to makes the others job a little easier. "So... has anyone ever got disconnected?" He asked curiously. "I mean im confident in our equipment but has the hear ever failed on your watch?"
Sakuro handed Hideo some equipment to attach to his suit that they would need well out there as he asked the question.

Kaito looked at him, taking a moment to think.
"Never," He answered evenly, "And definitely not on my watch."
Hideo strapped the gear into Sakuro's suit, "Well, not on the Behemoth anyway. And not for decades at that."
Kaito sighed inaudibly, having hoped Hideo had the sense to not make his subordinate nervous right before deployment.

Even though he was sure he did it right and knew Kaito had looked it over to make sure it was right. He did one last check of himself to make sure everything was in place. He felt nervous. He took in a deep breath, held it for a moment and then let it out and like magic his nerves vanished into excitment. "Okay. Let's do this." He wouldn't want to do this sort of thing all the time. He perfered being in the shop tinkering away at something, but every once and awhile it was exciting to change things up. It also please him that he was trusted to do these types of things.

Lieutenant Yamamoto made a pseudo-cheer of 'Alriiight! Let' go Team Japan.' which sounded more relaxed and lazy, holding no energy or weight. Private Uchida scoffed neutrally but didn't comment.
Once the first airlock was opened, Kaito tethered both Engineers to the first set of cables. Then again to a second set.
"These cables can take 200 tons of pressure, so you can use that Engineering brain of yours to figure out how many years you would have to pull on it before it would snap," he said confidently to the taller man.
Kaito kneeled in front of Sakuro, checking the stabilizers in his boots and reminding him, "Your feet will feel heavy so take it slow and don't panic if they get stuck. You can adjust the strength on your access panel or manually."

Sakuro stepped into the first airlock. He watch his walking safely net check his boots. He remembered his first time ever going outside the ship the strength was so strong he couldn't walk, but he refused to adjust it cause he thought he'd float away. "Got it." He responded looking over at Hideo. All of their names were of Japanese decent but Sakuro knew very little about earth history.
"Um. Yeah. Go team." He nodded to Hideo. He glanced back as the doors closed behind then and then forward to the last piece of structure that stood in their way of endless space. His hand tapped at his side. It could be mistaken for nerves but at this point he was excited.

Kaito used his Com to contact the cockpit crew to inform them of their departure, then switched to another line "Uchida to Security, prioritize station 4-B's manual monitoring. Over."
"Oooo busting out the big guns," Hideo whistled, "You trying to impress us?"
Private Uchida didn't bite at the taunt.
"Eh, it's incredibly unlikely to be a problem but I like having extra eyes watching for debris," He shrugged, sounding very routine.
He turned to Sakuro with a soft smile, "Hold the bar. We go on three."
One. Two. Three.
The unforgettable whoosh of noise and suction as oxygen surged out and replaced itself with a vacuum was a distinct sensation. One impossible to confuse with any other. Holding onto the bar was a formality to simply feel stable since it was impossible to be dragged out during the sequence because of the stabilizers and tethers.
After the initial suction rush it was replaced with a stark quiet and calm.
Even with the stabilizers weighing their feet, the floating feeling of antigravity would be noticeable in the Engineers arms and body.
"How are you feeling?" Kaito asked Sakuro.

Sakuro held onto the bar. It was like holding onto the railing well climbing the stairs. You didn't need to do it to accomplish the goal but it made you feel more in control. There was the worst and then.... nothing. It was the kind of quite that was loud. Where if you tired hard enough you could hear not just your own heart beating but the blood flowing in your vain's. He stared out at the space before him, a child like wonder in his eyes. "Like I could fly." He responded to the question letting go of the bar.

"You could, but it's not advised to go very far." Kaito smirked, lifting his legs easily into a test float on the spot.
Hideo clunked over and patted Sakuro's shoulder with his free hand, the spare panel under his other, "Alright, alright enough gawking. Let's get to work."
It seems even the wonders of space couldn't completely wash the tiredness from the Lieutenant's eyes.
The stabilizers would cling to the ships surface so long as they connected and pressure was applied. Sakuro would have to use some persistent and sure steps to get to the exit. Once there they could step out and float along handrails and indentations in ship, until they reached the wing where they could then walk again.
Private Uchida went first and stepped out backwards, keeping an eye on the two engineer's progress.
"Show off," Hideo gripped. Kaito smirked and didn't deny it.
"Take your time... if you need to," He offered back, feigning ignorance to the Lieutenant's tone.

Sakuro was just staring off into space, litterly. Looking into space throigh a window, though it looked the same, it was different knowing you were in it. When he felt the other hand pat his shoulder it brought him back. "Yes boss." He said and watched Kaito start to float. He couldn't deny that it looked cool. He pulled up his foot to see how much effort it took so he didnt pull to hard and send himself to the end of his tether. That would just be embarrassing. He placed his foot back down to stabilize himself and then stepped out. He followed behind Hideo, hanging onto the ship.

Private Uchida quirked an eyebrow at Sakuro's use of 'Boss' and not 'Sir' with the Lieutenant but otherwise made no comment on the matter. He led them, mostly backwards, to their destination while keeping an eye on everyone's tether's.
Hideo spent most of the time singing and humming a lazy rendition of 'Walking on Sunshine' clearly not bothered that they were all literally floating over an endless abyss.
"Perfect. Just 10 more feet," Kaito instructed, landing on the wing himself with a delicate thud.
"Alriiight," Hideo groaned spotting the damaged panel quickly as he landed with a firm clunk, "There's the culprit."
Hideo pointed out the panel to Sakuro, "We'll have to dislodge it first, then assess the damage."
"Don't stray too far Moonwalker, extra hands make quick work," Lieutenant Yamamoto sing-songed.
Private Uchida paused.
"Of course...Sir." he deadpanned with a nod. It seems Kaito wasn't overly fond of the Lieutenant's 'quirky nature' and taunts, but respected the chain of command all the same.

Sakuro was very bad at showing Hideo the proper respect for his position. He rarely ever called him Sir or by his title unless reminder to do so. It wasn't trying to be disrespectful he just didn't see the point and it was never informed so he'd sooner call him jackass than sir. He had been spoken to about from other people but until he was sat down in a serious conversation where there was a punishment to follow, he call him whatever. Hearing Kaito call him sir actually make Sakuro snort a little.
Arriving at the panel Sakuro pushed the awesome feat they were doing out of his head and turned his focus to his task. He pulled out his tool making sure it was attached by cord incase he dropped it and got to work removing the panel. Working in space had a different feel to it for sure. He trained to work in zero gravity but rarely did it. It was hard to tell the amount of preassure to use. And removed parts had to be tied down so not to have to float away. Once the panel was removed it was easy to see the ice build up which seemed to be the main problem. "Hideo. Talk to it would yeah. All that hot air should defrost that pretty quick." He joked as he reached in starting to remove the ice himself.
Well doing so he saw something that made him pause the under layer panel was cracked and the ice seemed to be keeping the part together. There was still a another layer or two before the ship would be breached but each compromised layer would cause more problems later even though the new panel would protect it for now.
"There's a crack under this ice. Im not sure how bad it is until the ice is removed."

Once dislodged, The Lieutenant passed the old damaged panel to Kaito's awaiting hands.
"If that approach hasn't defrosted your brain after working together for so long, it sure as hell ain't gonna work out here." Hideo drawled without missing a beat.
Once the damage was pointed out, he hummed in thought.
"Ahhhh, you're right... good eyes. Well, if it stays small we can just lay some resin to seal it. Otherwise, we'll just weld it." Hideo instructed. It was pretty routine and likely what Sakuro already expected the solution to be, "You work on that ice, as long as we get the worst parts the ship will do the rest. I'll get the new panel ready."
Kaito would be periodically moving thier tethers and help with the passing of tools to reduce the risk of any parts getting snagged on each other.

"Touche." Sakuro said in responce to Hideo's comeback, accepting the insult as fact.
"Right. Ok removing ice now." He said and started to gently chip away at the ice. Once the ice was as cleared as he could get it he looked at the cracks more closely. The ice made it look worse then it was. "I dont think we'll have to weld it." He said but let Hideo confirm.

The Lieutenant leaned over casually from his own work to look.
"Yup. Go ahead with that," he agreed quickly. He'd go back to preparing the panel for when Sakuro was finished, nonchalantly side eying the other's workmanship as he sealed the fracture.
Kaito watched Sakuro work carefully before musing the thought that he had been developing outloud, "The ship is so large and imposing...that it's easy to forget it's made up of many tiny and sophisticated pieces."

Sakuro proceeded to seal the crack. It didn't take to long to do and he moved back to let Hideo place the new panel. "If you think of it as a whole there are an impossible amount of parts to this ship. Its best not to think of it as a whole." Sakuro said as he went to put the sealant tube into its pouch but fumbled and sent it slowly floating into space. He moved quickly reaching out for it. He reach so quickly and with more force then intended that his feet lifted from the ship. He was still tethered so there was no fear that he would float away, but for the moment the engineer disconnected from the ship there was an 'oh shit' look that came across his face.
